THE MOST INNOVATIVE PMU TECHNIQUE
What Are Nano Brows?
Nano Brows, also known as machine hairstroke brows, are a form of permanent makeup that uses a fine tattoo needle to implant pigment into the skin in individual, hair-like strokes.
The technique allows an experienced artist to recreate the direction, movement, and pattern of natural eyebrow hair.
The result can be extremely subtle: more fullness where
your brows are sparse, improved shape and symmetry, and realistic definition without the appearance of a heavily filled-in brow.

Nano Brows vs. Powder Brows vs. Microblading
Not sure which brow technique is right for you? The main differences are how the brows are created and the type of healed result you can expect.

Nano Brows
BEST FOR NATURAL, HAIR-STROKE LOOK
Nano Brows use a permanent makeup machine with an ultra-fine needle to create individual hair-like strokes. Instead of making manual incisions, the needle deposits pigment through precise punctures, allowing for greater control while minimizing unnecessary trauma to the skin.

Powder Brows
BEST FOR SOFT FULLNESS AND DEFINITION
Powder Brows use a permanent makeup machine and fine needle to build soft, pixelated layers of pigment rather than individual hair strokes. This controlled machine technique creates fullness and definition without making manual incisions in the skin.
The healed result can be customized from soft and natural to more defined, depending on your natural brows, skin, and desired look.

Microblading
TRADITIONAL MANUAL TECHNIQUE
Microblading creates hair-like strokes using a handheld blade that makes small incisions in the skin to deposit pigment. Because the technique involves cutting rather than puncturing the skin with a fine machine needle, it can create more skin trauma, particularly when performed repeatedly over time.
At ART PM Chicago, we no longer offer traditional microblading and instead specialize in modern machine-based brow techniques.
Which brow technique is right for me?
You don't need to choose on your own. Your ART PM artist will consider your skin, natural hair growth, existing brow shape, previous permanent makeup, and the healed result you want before recommending the most appropriate technique.

What to Expect During Your Nano Brow Appointment
2
Custom Brow Design
Your artist carefully maps the brow shape before tattooing begins. You will have an opportunity to review the design before moving forward.
3
Pigment Selection
Pigment is selected based on your natural brow hair, skin tone and undertone, with consideration for how the color is expected to heal.
4
Nano Hairstroke Procedure
The Nano Brow procedure typically takes 1.5–2 hours. Using a permanent makeup machine and ultra-fine needle, your artist creates individual strokes following a customized hair-growth pattern designed to blend naturally with your existing brows.
6
Touch-Up
Your perfecting session is typically scheduled 6–8 weeks after your initial appointment, once the brows have fully healed. At this appointment, your artist evaluates pigment retention and refines the color, shape, or individual hair strokes where needed.
